How long does it take from ordering my dress to the final fitting?
Your dress is normally delivered to us within 12-16 weeks but to allow for fittings and alterations, a timescale of 9 months is perfect. However, if you choose our 'made to measure' service, this does take longer.

Also, your wedding dress can be produced as a ‘rush order’ if you need it sooner (this does incur a supplementary charge).

Can I have a fully made-to-measure dress?
Yes, this is possible. Your personal measurements are taken and are given to the designer. Sophie Louise can provide a ‘toile’ fitting which is a ‘mock-up’ of your dress in calico. This is then pinned and perfected to your figure at your fitting.

Most of our designers offer this service which enables a much better fitting garment, especially if your measurements are not a standard size.

Can I have a sample piece of my dress fabric?
Yes, once you have chosen your dress, we will arrange for a small piece of fabric to be posted out to you. This is invaluable when choosing or colour matching your underwear, shoes and other accessories. It is surprising how many shades of ivory there are!

What sort of underwear do I need?
This needs careful consideration, especially if your dress is very close fitting and a light, clingy fabric - as lace and lines/edges can show through quite easily. You would be advised to choose a nude colour with soft seams. Lace is beautiful for lingerie, but make sure it will not show through your dress.

Can you alter my dress?
Yes, if you have bought your dress from Sophie Louise. We pride ourselves in giving an excellent fitting and alteration service. All our alterations are carried out to a very high standard. Obviously, we can make a dress smaller but are unable to make them larger! Keeping an eye on your weight and size is important once you have placed your order.

What sizes are your dress samples?
They are all size 12. If you are above size 12, Couture by Sophie Louise is available on request.

What dress sizes are available?
They are available from size 6 and upwards.

Can you dye shoes and handbags?
Yes, we guarantee colour matching to your fabric swatch when visiting the boutique. Please provide a sample of fabric 6 inches x 6 inches on your visit. The dye is waster-based and needs ‘fixing’ with Scotchguard - this is a safe guard just in case the weather is wet (hopefully not!).

What are your opening hours?
We are open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Private appointments are available in complete privacy if required.
